Is it really a difference in the type of hair cutting comb that you use? Does it really matter? Why do we as hairdressers buy so many different types of combs or brushes? I guess to sum it up its all about the feel and look of the tool. One thing for sure is we as hairdressers can not live with out them.
Lets talk about a few different types and what is the purpose of each one of them. First, the All purpose comb. This comb is widely used by all hairdressers around the world. It can be used as a cutting comb, a smoothing comb, applying products, etc. This comb come in all types of material just like most combs from soft plastic to carbon fiber material. It also come in different types of shapes and sizes from short to long and narrow or wide.
Curved combs are becoming very popular again with hairdressers and one reason is for speed and control.
The faster you can cut a client hair the more money you can make. These combs come in different types of materials, shapes, sizes as well. One of the authentic curve combs DACurve by Antonio Tarrell. Its made out of carbon fiber with a modern sleek look. One of the advantages of this comb is that its pretty sturdy and the teeth on the comb is rounded and smooth.
The purpose of the curved comb for hairdressers is that you are able to drop more hair into the comb holding it at a fixated position and cut according to the shape of the spine of the comb on wet or dry hair using clippers or shears. Now you can cut precise concave or convex layers in seconds and it is one of the fastest ways to cut a bob hair cut.
If you are looking for speed I would suggest a curve comb either way you can achieve the same look with both combs. It may take a little more time with the all purpose comb.
You can purchase a curved comb on our website www.dacurve.com. Visit our event page for advance training and updated shows. I wish you look with your new curve comb and don't be afraid to step outside the box. Peace!!
PS. Let us know about your experience with the curve comb.
Kindly, Regards
Antonio Tarrell
